Buy local: Cedar Grove Compost
As consumers, one of the most powerful things we can do is to purchase products made locally from recycled materials. So if you're still trying to figure out how to make your own compost, buy some Cedar Grove Compost for your garden in the meantime. Did you know that in Seattle you can put your kitchen produce scraps, soiled paper products with yard waste out at the curb for collection? I found this out at a visit to my aunt and uncle's house in the Emerald City a few months back. And while I was pretty envious at first, I've come to learn in our Master Recycler class that we've reached the requisite critical mass in Portland via business food waste recycling for Cedar Grove (the company cooking all of Seattle's residential and Portland's business compost down) to site a facility in the Metro area. While that is still a ways out, we can support this company by purchasing their great compost products for our gardens.
