Baby step: pay your bills online

A few years ago my bank began offering free online bill paying. I bought into the marketing claims that it's faster and easier to pay bills online (although I'm not sure I really believe that now). I do like that getting electronic notices and paying bills online yields a lot less paper that I need to file or recycle. I can't remember the last time I bought stamps, and I rarely write out checks.

I recently signed up for electronic proxy voting and investment info, such as annual reports. Something made me think I really needed to have hard copies of those to put in my files. Not like I really ever read them. Just one of those weird things it was hard to let go of.

Another small thing you can do to save paper is pass on the receipt if you don't use them. I know quite a few people who don't balance their checkbooks, but just go from the daily balance the bank provides.

Do you pay your bills online?
