How did I miss the Portland Tour de Coops?

I'm amazed to be saying this, but I can't believe I missed the Portland Tour de Coops in late July. Not too long ago, I confessed to having poultry phobia, but now I find myself discussing urban chicken rearing with more and more people, and even thinking of raising chickens one day myself. One of my mom friends from preschool is thinking about a family pet and was leaning toward a goat or a chicken, and I had to agree these sound like fabulous, useful animals to have around. What do you think? Do urban chickens and goats make good pets?
