Portland car seat recycling & installation checks: May and July 2008
We've posted about some car seat recycling events hosted by Legacy in recent months, and are glad to now let you know that this is a regular event. So don't despair if you missed the last two. There's more!! Here's what's on the schedule now:
- Car Seat Installation Check & Recycling: May 24, 2008, 10am - 2pm, at Legacy Good Samaritan (1015 NW 22nd Avenue)
- Car Seat Installation Check & Recycling: July 26, 2008, 10am - 2pm, at Legacy Emanuel (2801 N. Gantenbein Avenue, parking structure 3)
These are two really important community services:
- Most people don't know how to install a car seat properly, which rather undermines the use of a car seat now, doesn't it? Trained technicians help you properly install them if you have a new seat, have never installed on, just want to be sure, etc. They also have info on recalls in case you happen to be using an old and/or recalled car seat.
- It's recommended that you retire car seats older than 6 years, since their parts may weaken over time, with heat/sun exposure, etc. This is a great opportunity, since almost no one will take old car seats, and most of us feel really terrible about landfilling them. Leave the car seats intact, and feel good that 95% of the material can be recycled.
Thank you, Legacy! Call 503-413-4005 for additional information.
