Walk + Bike + Dance! Come Kickoff Walk + Bike Challenge Month!
OK, OK, so it's kind of shameless promotion but oh baby oh you gotta come out for this! To help us kickoff Walk + Bike Challenge month we've invited the groovin' DJ's from Greasy Kid Stuff to come spin some tunes while we rock out on the Eastbank Esplanade Saturday morning, May 3, at 9:30, Main Street Plaza.
Yes, it's a Saturday morning to be spent walking, biking and dancing! What could be better? Well, you can add to that mix stilt walkers, tall bikers, cheerleaders and a family ride to the Portland Farmer's Market or a family walk to the MAX so you can head to the Oregon Zoo for Safe Kids Day. And don't forget Portland will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo on the Westbank Esplanade so you can come out to party with us then head over to the festival across the river for a fun-filled Saturday.
The Walk + Bike Challenge is month-long event brought to you by the Safe Routes to School folks at the BTA. The event is designed to encourage students in the Portland area to walk or bike to school during the month of May (National Bike Month) and all elementary and middle schools as well as preschools are welcome to sign up to participate! We'll be giving out free incentives to participants as well as prizes for students who reach 10 day and 20 day benchmarks. There will also be two raffles during the month as well as prizes to be awarded at the final Celebration event that will be held at the South Park Blocks on June 8.
So, will your school sign up? What else are you doing to celebrate National Bike Month? Tell me what you think of this first-ever event!
