Ready to try vegan?

Veganism is a philosophy and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose, according to Wikipedia. That means no eggs or dairy products from cows, like cheese and yogurt. I have friends who are vegan, and I admire their dedication to it. For me, personally, I'm still trying to incorporate more vegetarian meals into our lives, so veganism seems like an unlikely path anytime soon.

In Portland there seems to be a strong vegan movement, so much so that next week there's a whole slew of free events to encourage folks to give it a try. Try Vegan Week is June 7-14 and every day you can participate in a pro-vegan class, workshop, gathering or tour. You can even be paired with a mentor who will support and guide you through the week! Register online to participate.
