Inspiring story: Japanese town aims for zero-waste by 2020

Thanks to Elizabeth B. for sending us a link to a story about the town of Kamikatsu, Japan, which is taking huge strides to be completely waste-free by 2020. Watch the video to learn about the Zero Waste Academy (love it!) and how the townfolk separate their recyclables. Truly inspiring how the entire town has embraced sustainability. How can we replicate that spirit here? Granted, the town only has 2000 inhabitants, but still...I dream of highly localized sustainability movements. What would it take to motivate 2000 people in my neighborhood? Or yours?

Egad, those are heavy thoughts for the holidays. I need a cookie.
