Reusing and crafting with promotional magnets
You know those paper-thin magnets that come stuck to the front of the yellow pages? Or that companies give out with an imprint of their business card? That you're supposed to stick on your fridge so this plumber or that electrician is the first one you think to call? I don't know about you, but the only one I'm interested in putting on my fridge is the one for my kids' doctors office (because when my kids are sick, I need that phone number pronto!). The rest of these promotional magnets would be trash, but I keep thinking there should be some creative, fun way to reuse them. Dress them up with photo cut-outs or kids' artwork to turn them into magnets I'd actually want to hang on my fridge. Of course, I never get around to thinking of things like that. Kind of like mending my socks, this project never gets off the back burner. So today readers, I'm asking you. Have you done anything fun, cute and creative with old promo magnets? Please do share. Send pictures! We are in the midst of a major snowstorm, and in Portland, that means most of the town shuts down and snow days have gobbled up that last precious week of school before winter break, keeping kids out of school until 2009 (and if you have any access to the smallest violin in the world, will you please play a little song for Heather and me?). So we are just looking for things to do to fill up these long, long, looooong days...
