Loving The Lorax

Lorax  I don't know how I went 39 years without reading The Lorax! I found a used copy at Powell's a couple of weeks ago, and it has become an overnight family favorite around here. The Lorax! Dr. Seuss published it back in 1971, and it is scary how, almost 40 years later, its message is so spot-on.

I meant no harm. I most truly did not

But I had to grow bigger. So bigger I got.

I biggered my factory. I biggered my loads

of the Thneeds I shipped out. I was shipping them forth

to the South! To the East! To the West! To the North!

I went right on biggering...selling more Thneeds.

And I biggered my money, which everyone needs.

We've really biggered ourselves into a fine mess, haven't we Dr. Seuss? I wish the global climate movement had taken on such urgency back then. Definitely a great book to add to your collection or put on hold at the library.
