Non-toxic, eco-healthy pet product recommendations?

We received a great email from Alissa in Arizona, who is a pet lover. Renee and I don't write about pets often, because neither of us have any (well, except for my son's ridiculously low-maintenance hermit crab, which barely qualifies), and we love exploring new topics. So Alissa is looking for some eco-friendly pet product recommendations -- because after all, those four-legged friends are just as deserving of healthy lifestyles as us two-legged types. She writes:

I am a pet person. We have two dogs and a cat, and we foster dogs (we volunteer with a local shelter). So of course, I'm looking to "green" up my pets as well. We've already switched to natural pet foods. But as I'm researching the chemicals in my own cosmetics (sparked by an unexplained outbreak of hives), I've realizing that our pet shampoos are just as bad, if not worse.

I'd love to see a post about pet-friendly products such as shampoos, deodorizer sprays/powders (for between baths), toys, bedding, etc that are eco-friendly and low on the chemical count. I've come across a few, but I'm always looking for more.

So what do you pet lovers recommend? And since our readers span the country, can you suggest any good online sources? Follow-up question: we have natural food grocery stores -- are there more natural pet stores cropping up?
