Supporting relief efforts in Haiti

The news just keeps getting worse in the aftermath of Haiti's devastating earthquake: thousands dead, hospitals and homes in rubble, government in tatters. You may feel powerless to help, but there are many non-profits offering aid and support to Haiti, and the smallest donations add up quickly. My husband and I donated to Portland-based Mercy Corps, but there are many others, such as:

Oxfam: "providing clean water, shelter, sanitation and helping people recover"

American Red Cross: "provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need"

Unicef: "Children are always the most vulnerable population in any natural disaster, and UNICEF is there for them."

There are more organizations listed here. Feel free to mention your preferred agency in the comments.
