Friends of Tryon Creek Holiday Forest Market: Dec 4-5

Holiday lights up? Nope.

Out before the break of dawn on Black Friday, throwing elbows, kicking shins to get the best shopping deals? Nah.

Sent out all the holiday cards moments after the Thanksgiving turkey was made into soup? As if...

Elf-costume-sketch I've done none of those things! I don't even have good intentions in many of those areas. I still have a string of lights from last Christmas sitting on my workbench, if only I could figure out how to repair it. Shopping retail? Believe it or not, I need to get working on some of the home-made gifts my kids asked for this year. And, as for holiday cards? Well, you should know by now we don't send those. We make a holiday video that is paper free. We've begun production. It will be epic. There will be elves. And that's all I'm going to say about that for now.

So, getting into the holiday spirit could just happen next weekend at the Friends of Tryon Creek Holiday Forest Market. Here's the scoop (and it sounds quite lovely):

Artisans from the Portland area will be selling their beautiful handmade, sustainable and crafty wares (from delicious organic chocolate truffles and lush holiday wreaths to hand-thrown pottery and decorative art made of reclaimed wood, there truly will be something for everyone on your readers’ lists). There will also be local authors on hand to discuss their books on hiking and camping in our area, as well as children’s literature. All books will be available for purchase.

The Forest Market is a fun, free, family event. It is held in the Nature Center of beautiful Tryon Creek State Natural Area, right in our own back yard. In addition to the market, there will be a free guided nature hike at 10am on Saturday, December 4, and free holiday crafts for children from 1 – 3pm on Sunday, December 5.
